The short version
- Results are ordered mainly by how close a shop is to you, then by your saved preferences and the filters you pick.
- Paid content is shown only in slots and sections labelled Sponsored.
- Shops cannot pay to move up in ordinary results, or for reviews.
How results are ordered
When you browse or search, these are the main parameters that decide the order of shops, listings and offers, most important first:
- Distance from you. Closer shops come first, based on your current location or the address you choose.
- Your saved preferences. The categories, products and services you said you like, and whether you prefer at-home or at-shop services. You can switch this off by withdrawing personalisation inProfile → Privacy settings; results are then ordered without it.
- Filters you pick, such as open now or in stock. These include or exclude results rather than reorder them.
- Shop verification and licence status. Shops whose required licences are verified may rank above unverified ones. Food shops without a verified FSSAI registration or licence are not shown at all.
Within these, newer offers may appear before older ones in feeds. We may change how much each parameter counts to improve results; if the main parameters change, we will update this page.
Sponsored content
- Shops can pay LocalMein for a paid Nearby placement or to boost an offer to their followers.
- These are shown only in clearly labelled Sponsored slots or sections, and are never disguised as ordinary results.
- Paying for a placement does not change a shop's position in ordinary results, its reviews or its verification status.
- Sponsored content is not targeted using sensitive personal data, and is never targeted at children.
What we never do
- We do not accept payment to change the order of ordinary search results or feeds.
- We do not manipulate search results to favour or bury particular shops outside these rules.
- We do not allow paid, incentivised or fake reviews, and we do not let shops remove honest reviews.
- We do not give a "Verified" badge without saying exactly what was verified and when.
Your controls
- Switch personalisation off in Profile → Privacy settings.
- Change your location or search radius at any time.
- Mute or unfollow a shop to stop its boosted offers reaching you.
- Report anything that looks like a disguised ad. See Grievances.
